A Word Association Friday Five

Using the song "Summer in the City" as her inspiration, Singing Owl brings us the following RevGals Friday Five of word association:

1. rooftop My own roof. We've lived here 8 years and haven't had to replace it. Yet.

2. gritty Sand in your sunscreen.

3. hot town (yeah, I know, it's two words) New Orleans. First time I ever went there was a muggy afternoon in June. Now it makes me think of devastation, of course, but also of RevGals, because the Big Event set sail from there!

4. night For some reason, Billy Joel's "Until the Night" from the 52nd Street album. (No video for linking... although somebody has put some odd little thing together over on YouTube using clips from some ABC soap opera... no, I don't know who Carly and Lorenzo are, and I don't need to know.) But hey, just for fun, go check out Billy's site. Did you know it's the 30th anniversary of The Stranger? My big brother had it on 8-track... I wore out my cassette years ago, and now I have it on CD. (Woo, tangent...)

5. dance Something I used to do a lot, but don't do often enough these days.

Ugh, sand in the sunscreen.
I am not happy about our roof, which we apparently DO need to replace and have no money for. Ah, turn up the tunes and pass me a popsicle.

Wore out the cassette...we haven't owned a Billy Joel album since the day I got out of my boyfriend's (the future Scientist's) car in the rain and his cassette of 52nd Street fell into the gutter...now there's a tangent/flashback for you...don't mind me, I'm goofy today--carry on.

I have nothing to add about Billy Joel. I'm too old or too eccentric or something. But I enjoyed catching up with your blog and I'm impressed at the size of your garden plants. Here in Maine my apt-dwelling cousin just yesterday planted some tomatoes, cukes and peppers in our yard, and I set out a container garden of rosemary, oregano and basil.

Your mention of Billy Joel reminded me of "in the middle of the night, I go walking in my sleep...".

Great play!

Ok Billy Joel?? First time I got high..not because i was smoking the wacky, but because the 30 people around me were, and it was my first live concert, and of cource it was with the church youth group, led by the town undertaker!

Thanks for the reminder.

Now D/B put on your Winni the Pooh slippers and start dancing!
