Snippets

  • This committed comfy-shoes girl has bought two pairs of open-toed slides so far this month (well, one pair I had to buy for a wedding). And has scheduled her first pedicure for the end of the week. I'm way too practical for this kind of behavior.
  • Our household is enthralled by this composition. We think maybe they spy on people who have been married a while.
  • Glad the weekend road trip is behind us. Less than 3 weeks until the next one...
  • It was dry and cool this evening. Had a rather nice dog-walk.
  • Made that microwave cake-in-a-mug recipe that's going around. My Twitter-sized review: Nice that it exists. Probably great if you're really desperate for cake. Overall: How 'bout that.

At our house, how about that translates into "ain't that somethin'; an all purpose quote from my self-acclaimed red neck cousin. And I agree on that assessment. Ain't that somethin'.

Enjoy having happy toes!

Devon and I had a pedicure on Friday after her second performance of the "barnyard moo-sical". I chose a lilac / lavendar color. Devon chose sparkly green. :) That night, my dad painted Madeline's toes. Instead of using the kids polish that was on the shelf, he let her go get some from my bathroom. He said he got paint on all the toes, so it should be good, right?

Enjoy your toes and be happy they weren't painted by my dad. :P

Please share the recipe. I get mad cravings for cake sometimes but I don't want to make a big cake when I'm only craving a piece.

Piece and love,

I'm with GG - share that recipe please.

I was channelling you and your cute BE shoes when I went shopping yesterday. I went into the store thinking, OK - I need something that will be warmer then showing my toes - something like DB wears. Thanks for the inspiration!

Wow, I'm surprised at the cake requests. I've received it multiple times, so I thought everybody else had already seen it. Here 'tis:

5 MINUTE CHOCOLATE MUG CAKE

4 tablespoons flour
4 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons cocoa
1 egg
3 tablespoons milk
3 tablespoons oil
3 tablespoons chocolate chips (optional)
A small splash of vanilla extract
1 large coffee mug(Microwave Safe)

Add dry ingredients to mug, and mix well. Add the egg and mix thoroughly.

Pour in the milk and oil and mix well.

Add the chocolate chips (if using) and vanilla extract, and mix again. Put your mug in the microwave and cook for 3 minutes at 1000 watts.

The cake will rise over the top of the mug, but don't be alarmed!

Allow to cool a little, and tip out onto a plate if desired.
EAT ! (this can serve 2 if you want to feel slightly more virtuous).

And why is this the most dangerous cake recipe in the world? Because now we are all only 5 minutes away from chocolate cake at any time of the day or night!

The video, though, of the Conchords, is hilarious.

What color are your shoes? No picture???

The shoes for the wedding are just like the ones in the picture. The others are black. I couldn't find a photo to link. Maybe I'll take one after the pedi on Friday....

Business Time has long been a favorite of mine. I love love love the Flight of the Conchords!! I'm so loving the fact that you're finally using your Netflix to come further into the now instead of only renting Monty Python. ;-)

DogBlogger said...

Uh, dahling, we do not rent Monty Python. We frickin' OWN Monty Python.

My bad. I should have known that!

DSW - I bought the four pair they had at the one on 3040 in Lewisville... you might check other locations. They were a two-pack marked $12.94 with a red 75% tag, so it worked out to roughly $1.90 per pair. The regular price was $20 per pair!

Are chocolate chips ever really optional??
